TA DA [2-2]

An Invitation

You are invited to submit your virgin ta da poems for the very first ta da anthology. All submissions will be selected, collated, edited and published by ai li, its creator, and editor and publisher of the cherita, gembun and dua books, and this anthology of 90 timeless ta da will be published by the 1-2-3 Press which publishes the cherita.

I encourage you to submit your best ta da for this very special first ta da anthology.

If I receive an encouraging response to this invitation, then this anthology will carry on and join the ongoing cherita, gembun and dua anthologies. The decision will be in all your writing hands.

Ta Da is another brief unique storytelling genre and it was created by ai li at 7.30am on the Sunday morning of 15 April 2022, and which can be written with up to two poets.

Ta Da is an original minimal short form genre which has become a quartet, joining cherita, gembun and dua – the three other unique and iconic storytelling genres, all created by ai li.

Please send me your Ta Da gems on Life, Love, Loss and Renewal.

Please submit up to 30 Ta Da to the editor for each anthology in the body of a single email

There are no deadlines and submissions ongoing.

appreciate
the timeless of your stories, and to be in the moment.

B A C K G R O U N D

Ta Da was created and conceived by ai li on Sunday 15 April 2022 at 7.30 am to accompany Cherita, Gembun and Dua on their storytelling journey. These are three other genres by ai li which poets and writers have now deemed iconic, and which are both instantly recognisable by their unique and distinctive formats.

Ta Da now joins them with its very own unique two stanza of 4-lines storytelling format with a pause between each stanza.

Cherita, Gembun, Dua and Ta Da are now a quartet of short form storytelling genres by ai li, along with eighteen other linked forms which were all created by ai li.

This new genre invites you to further distil and share the very essence of a minimal story. Your words should be brief, meaningful, and hold captive your reader.

More examples of virgin Ta Da can be found in the first book of Ta Da by ai lianother night which has 90 virgin Ta Da poems for reference. This book is available in paperback and kindle on Amazon, and can be used for reference if you are new to the Ta Da genre.

The Original and Official Ta Da [2-2]Guidelines

Ta Da is a new and unique short form storytelling poetry genre of only 2 stanzas of 2 lines in each stanza, with a pause between each stanza, and can be written with up to two poets.

You start a Ta Da [2 – 2] with your first stanza of two sentences, followed by a pause or breathing space, and then finish your story with another two sentences. These sentences do not need to be lengthy. They can be minimal. I have used ‘sentences’ loosely here because you can use one or more words for your ta da instead of a full sentence or sentences.

Ta Da should encompass a ‘fanfare’ of the minimalistic kind to bring attention to your paired tale of Life, Love, Loss and Renewal.

The world is your storytelling oyster and ta da continues ai li’s ethos of distilling to arrive at the very essence of a story with fewer words, its core of truth. This will give your poem its timeless power.

All four genres mentioned above are instantly recognisable by their unique and distinctive formats created by ai li.

Cherita, Gembun, Dua, and now Ta Da, along with eighteen other linked forms were all created by ai li.

The plural for ta da is ta da.
tadaga [tada-gare] is ta-da with Art, and tadabun [tada-boon] is for ta-da with Prose.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT NOT UNLIKE CHERITA AND GEMBUN, DUA, TA DA TOO, DOES NOT HAVE A TITLE.

If a Ta Da is titled, then it is rogue and not to be considered a Ta Da.

The Cherita, Gembun, Dua, and now Ta Da in my opinion, embody the true essence of short form poetry which is saying more with fewer words.

The secret is to distil, distil and distil to arrive at the essence of your story.
The pause between the two lines is the key as it amplifies the quiet before the relevance of the story sets in.
What you want to avoid is writing a diary or personal journal entry.

Like most linked forms, Ta Da can be written and used in a sequence if preferred but it remains at its most powerful as it was created – as a 2 stanza 4-line poem with a pause between each stanza, that require no other distractions, and the genre shares the same strong spirit of storytelling as Cherita, Gembun and Dua.
